DFA to accept Postal ID for passport application starting Aug. 1

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) will start accepting Philippine Postal Corporation’s (PHLPost) Postal ID as a recognized ID for passport application starting August 1, 2019.

DFA Consular Affairs Assistant Secretary Neil Frank R. Ferrer signed a Memorandum of Agreement with PHLPost representative Assistant Postmaster General for Marketing & Support Services Luis D. Carlos.
The MOA gives DFA access to the Postal ID Online Verification System (POVS).

The DFA will also utilize POVS, an application developed by PHLPost, to verify the authenticity of a Postal ID card.
The POVS was expected to address problems on the integrity of the card presented and issues concerning counterfeit cards.
